Goals and objectives of the department

The main goal of the Legal Department is to ensure the observance of the rule of law in the activities of the University

Tasks of the Legal Department

  • Coordinating the work of the Legal Support Directorate and the Claims and Litigation Directorate, which are part of the Legal Department
  • Compliance of the University with the requirements of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • Compliance with established procedures and authority in any decision affecting the interests of the University
  • Making timely and effective decisions aimed at eliminating shortcomings and violations in the University’s activities
  • Protection by legal means of property and other legitimate interests
  • Compliance with the requirements of the quality management system, the University’s quality policy, and other internal regulatory documents of the University in the field of quality
  • Compliance with the requirements of the anti-corruption management system, anti-corruption policy, internal regulations and legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of combating corruption

Main activities and functions of the Legal Department:

  • Timely implementation of the Strategic Directions and Development Program of the University within the scope of its activities and provision of information on their implementation, including strategic indicators, upon request to the Department of Strategic Development and International Cooperation
  • Representation of the University’s interests on supervised issues before state bodies, as well as state and non-state organizations
  • Coordination of the work of subordinate structural units and the University as a whole on issues within its competence
  • Providing methodological assistance to the University’s structural subdivisions on issues within their competence
  • Participation in the preparation of proposals on the need to amend or cancel procedures, instructions and other internal documentation approved by the University and its structural subdivisions
  • Assistance in the implementation of measures to improve the University’s quality management system (timely elimination of remarks, fulfillment of recommendations of external and internal audits, etc.)
  • Maintaining the process of informing the University’s management about potential or existing violations of the anti-corruption policy, conflict of interest rules, corruption risks or incidents, and requirements of other internal anti-corruption regulations of the University
  • Other functions not reflected in this document, but falling within the competence of the Legal Department and defined by the internal regulatory documents of the University
