The Department of Management in Healthcare and Pharmacy, jointly with the Module of Economics in Healthcare, organized and held a round table on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the School of Management in Healthcare and Pharmacy entitled as The Current State and Prospects of the Distance Education in Kazakhstan. The School is a part of the Kazakhstan National Medical University (KazNMU) named after Asfendiyarov, the leading national educational institution in healthcare.
The Roundtable assembled fourteen participants including faculty and staff of higher educational institutions of the city of Almaty. In opening the event, the School Dean Nellya Ivanchenko highlighted the role and importance of the distance education mode for the national higher education and for the School of Management in Healthcare and Pharmacy, in particular.
The program of the Roundtable featured presentations by the following participants:
Dr. Almaz Tolymbek, Visiting Professor of Canadian Institute of Management, on the topic titled Distance Education as an Educational Market Development Strategy;
Mr. Maksat Seraliyev, Head of the Development Department at Synergy, Moscow Financial-Industrial University, on the topic of Distance Education Specifics in Higher Education;
Senior Lecturer D. Zamanbekov, on the topic of Teaching Techniques at British Universities
Of particular interest was a paper by the Department head, Dr. Aiman Khadzhieva, titled as Current Status and Problems of Distance Education in Medical Education, particularly at KazNMU. Another paper worthy of noting was the one presented by Dr. Begaydarova focusing on e-textbooks as a means of competences-based approach in education.
The event was capped with a lively discussion of higher education issues and ended with the acceptance of the resultant text of its output as well as a ceremony of conferring certificates to all the participants of the Roundtable.
