Since the foundation of the Military forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1992 the military department prepared more than 6000 officers of medical service in reserve. Many graduates took responsible positions in medical service of the USSR: chiefs of military-medical management of Defence Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, military-medical academy, medical service of Southern group forces, the department of military-medical faculty at CIAMS, general-majors of medical service, the chief pharmaceutists of the Republic of Kazakhstan Defence Ministry, the chief surgeons of the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In honour of the 65th anniversary of victory in Great Patriotic War there was created the centre of military-patriotic education named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Baurzhan Momyshuly and nominal auditoriums named after the Heroes of the Soviet Union – the students of the university Manshuk Mametova and Vladimir Ivanilov.
The pride of the university are the Olympic champions Oleg Antropov (volleyball), captain of the National team of the USSR on water polo Sergei Kotenko, the participants of the Olympic games, sport master of the international category Satubaldin Zh. (canoe rowing, Sidney, 2008), sport master of the international category Imanbayev A. (Greek -Roman wrestling, Beijing, 2008). Teachers of physical education are active participants of refereeing and coaching. The honoured coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan Korotkiy A.P. (Atlanta, 1996; Athens 2004), cavalier of the order of National Olympic committee, the honoured coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan on track and field athletics Radostnov V. (Peking, 2008), the winner of five international tournaments on boxing (Germany, Poland), sport master master Samoilenko A.N. The university’s teams are active participants and winners of sport competitions on different forms of sport.
