International Ranking of Higher Educational Institutions (ARES-2018)

According to the results of the International rating of the European Scientific and Industrial Chamber ARES-2018 JSC “National Medical University” ranked second among medical and fifth place among universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan with category A + (High quality teaching, research activities and demand for graduates by employers (Highqualityperformance). The ARES-2018 ranking included 96 Kazakhstani universities, including 7 medical universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ARES rating is conducted in strict accordance with European standards. ARES assesses universities from European positions that focus primarily on the quality of education and on the measures taken by the university to improve the quality of education and the level of faculty. Important rating parameters are the international activities of the university and the role of the university in the socio-economic and cultural development of the region. Communication with employers and research activities, including the active involvement of students in research, is also an important parameter of the ARES rating.

The European Chamber of Science and Industry (ECSI)was established in July 1992 and was registered in Europe (Reg No. 97740640582) as a non-profit, non-political association which goal is to strengthen international scientific, cultural and economic ties. ECSI actively cooperates with leading educational, scientific and industrial centers, European Chambers of Commerce, associations of small and medium-sized enterprises. In Russian Federation and CIS countries, ECSI operates within the framework of interstate agreements and contributes to strengthening cooperation in the main areas defined by these agreements.

Eurochamber rating attracts a large number of participants, and this number is growing every year. That is why the ratings have been the most authoritative and prestigious in the world. State and private companies, as well as ministries and departments of different countries have the opportunity to get acquainted with the results of ratings. A distinctive feature of the Eurochamber’s rating is that the data is processed automatically using the latest information technologies without influence of the human factor. According to rating results, private investors decide on investments in various sectors of the economy in different countries.

The purpose of the ARES-2018 ranking of universities is to assess the ability of universities to provide students with the necessary knowledge, participate in research activities, as well as the ability to actively communicate with future employers.

The rating is based on 3 categories of assessments:

1. Category A (AAA, AA +, AA, A +, A): High quality teaching, research activities and demand for graduates by employers (Highqualityperformance)
2. Category B (BBB +, BBB, BB +, BB, B +, B): Reliable quality of teaching, research and relevance of graduates by employers (Goodqualityperformance)
3. Category C (CCC +, CCC, CC +, CC, C +, C): Adequate quality of teaching, research, and demand for graduates by employers (Sufficientqualityperformance)
4. Category D (DDD +, DDD, DD +, DD, D +, D): Inadequate quality of education, research activities and demand for graduates by employers with significant risk (Conditionalfailure)

Academic Ranking of World Universities-European Standard ARES-2018

In the international ranking of websites of universities “Webometrics”, conducted by Cybermetrics Lab (Spain), the website of JSC National Medical University ranked 1st among medical universities of Kazakhstan, 10th among 122 universities of Kazakhstan and 5935th among 11999 universities of the world (https: // www.webometrics.info/en/Asia/kazakstan).
