Center for monitoring, analysis of the quality of education and scientific support of the reform of medical education (MAQE and SSRME) is a structural division of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov. It was founded by the rector’s order based on the decision of  Academic council (protocol number 1 from September 23, 2010) and it has scientific-educational status. MAQE and SSRME submits directly to the rector.

Meiramkul A. Abirova, candidate of medical science, was the director of Centre for MAQE and SSRME from 2010 to 2011.

At present time Saule S. Sarsenbayeva, doctor of medical science, associate professor, doctor of higher category, is the director of Centre for MAQE and SSRME.

Centre for MAQE and SSRME includes «Group for support of educational process» which consists of following members:

  3. Zhuldyz M. Satybayeva, expert on accreditation and ranging

There is also «Group for monitoring of educational process»:

The strategic direction of the Centre is a definition of an accurate trajectory for improvement of the forms of management of educational process and development of educational activity of the University with aim of increase of competitiveness of educational services, and training (formation) of medical profile expert in a foreign and local labor markets.

The main activities of the Centre for MAQE and SSRME are:

1) Monitoring of the quality of high medical education in the university and development of recommendation for its improvement;

2) Scientific support of educational process through the development of strategy and recommendations for the development of medical education Model at KazNMU, and learning of technologies of educational process in the universities around the world;

3) Professional co-operation with educational organizations, international associations through the scientific publications, participation in conferences and projects.

Goals and objectives of the Centre for MAQE and SSRME

 

The strategy of monitoring of educational process was developed in the Centre for MAQE and SSRME in 2011-2012, and it includes 4 directions:

1) Comprehensive assessment of realization of the Model of medical education in KazNMU;

2) Definition of the level of satisfying of students and inters by the education of the university;

3) Clarification of employers’ opinion about quality of training of graduates at KAZNMU;

4) Assessment of the innovative activities of the university: program for visits, academic mobility of the students of master degree, credit system of education, School of pedagogical skill.

  1. Development of strategy of education development in KazNMU and recommendations for improvement of educational process (strategies, concepts, plans of realization, provision on the work organization).
  2. Informing of KazNMU employees and people who are interested in the results of institutional researches through the publication of their results on KazNMU web-site, “Shipager” newspaper, and reports of conferences and meetings.
  3. Professional co-operation with educational organizations in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the world (scientific publications, participation in conferences etc.).
    1. Realization of informational project “Model of medical education of KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov” (the edition of series of the books devoted to competence-based model of medical education).

 

24 monitoring works were carried out for 2010-2012 where 4 from it were discussed on Academic Council. Centre for MAQE and SSRME invited Agency “ DAMU Research Group ” and “Transparency Kazakhstan” which carried out sociological researches and gave an assessment for demand and competitiveness of graduates of KazNMU according to opinions of employers, also they gave information about bribery (corruption) in the university.

Within 2 years Centre for MAQE and SSRME together with DAMW won competitions for carrying out educational projects by university internal grant.

Centre for MAQE and SSRME during its activity put forward proposals for Academic Council to improve educational process including number of conceptual ones according to the Model of medical education of KazNMU:

1)      System for assessment of bachelor’s competences according to the Model of medical education of KazNMU (Approved by Academic Council of KazNMU, protocol #2 from September 27, 2009).

2)      Concept of formation of legal competence of students according to the new Model of medical education of KazNMU (Approved by Academic Council of KazNMU, protocol #3 from October 25, 2010).

3)      Amendments into Regulations about director of educational department, educational department, committee of educational programs (approved by Academic Council, protocol #4 from November 29, 2011).

4)      Recommendations on percentage ratio of traditional and active (interactive) methods of teaching according to the levels of teaching at faculties (approved by Academic Council, protocol #4 from November 29, 2011).

5)      Concept «New approaches of formation of staff structure in KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov (approved by Academic Council, protocol #5 from December 27, 2011).

6)      The results of definition of index on interns’ satisfaction by education quality at KazNMU and recommendations on improvement of education quality (approved by Academic Council, protocol #6 from January 24, 2012).

7)      Model of medical education at internship of KazNMU (approved by Academic Council together with dean’s office of internship, protocol #6 from January 24, 2012).

8)      Accession of KazNMU to the international Associations (approved by Academic Council, protocol #7 from February 28, 2012).

9)      Development of proposal for formation of grop’s (“Talking heads”) in KazNMU named fter S.D. Asfendiyarov (approved by Academic Council, protocol #9 from April 24, 2012).

 

Since 2011 KazNMU became a member of 5 international Associations at the initiative of the Centre for MAQE and SSRME. There are Association of medical education in Europe (AMEE), European Association of Universities (EUA), Association of Dental Eduaction in Europe (ADEE), Siberian Consortium of Distance Learning “Siberian Open University”, Eurasian Association of Universities (Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov). These memberships influence on reputation and rating indicators of higher education institution.

The center keeps in contact with Associations by performances at forums (Malaysia, Estonia, Russia), publications, correspondence.

Within 2 years Centre for MAQE and SSRME carry out informational project “Model of medical education of KazNMU”. 13 books devoted to competence-oriented model of medical education were published.
